The Dortmund "Westfalenstadion" was built for the 1974 World Cup. As a pedigree football stadium, it ranks as one of the top sports addresses in Germany and, following its recent expansion, as one of the most modern football arenas in Europa. With a crowd capacity of 83,000, it is Germany's largest football stadium until projects in Berlin and Munich will be finished.

In terms of style, size and experience value, the stadium acts as a model for other stadium projects throughout Europe. The South Stand - with standing capacity of 25,000 - is the largest grandstand in any European stadium. And if an international encounter is to be played, it can be converted into seating capacity of 10,500 in only two days. Behind the North Stand you will find the Borussia Museum, one of the most interesting and comprehensive of its kind in Europe.

Following its "refit", "Westfalenstadion" has an undersoil heating system, state-of-the-art video technology, restaurants and a whole array of entertainment and service features. In the stands themselves, 350 TV sets tuned into Fan TV provide up-to-the-minute info. Two video superscreens ensure that the pitch action can be watched from every corner of the ground.
